Halftime Hymn

A chant-and-chorus anthem written for a minor-league club's tenth anniversary season — built for ten thousand voices, not headphones.

The Brief

Loud by design

The club wanted an anniversary anthem the supporters' section would actually adopt. That meant short lines, a chant anyone can learn in one hearing, and a chorus that survives being sung slightly out of tune by thousands.

The Approach

Tested on real throats

We workshopped three chant options with a supporters' group over pizza, kept the one they were still humming at midnight, and built the full anthem around it with drums first and everything else second.

Process

From terrace to track

  1. Chant workshopThree options tested live with supporters; one clear winner by acclamation.
  2. Full arrangementMarching drums, brass stabs and a gang-vocal chorus recorded with forty volunteers.
  3. Matchday debutPremiere at the anniversary fixture, with lyric cards on every tenth seat.
